A magnificent male deer with an impressive crown of antlers gazes at us attentively, his blue, pupil-less eyes emitting a radiant blue light. In the background, a golden silhouette of an oak tree catches the ethereal light from above, adding to the majestic aura of the scene.
As a practice commission, I created an illustration for a mythological animals calendar, and I selected October, a month brimming with autumnal mystique. In Slavic mythology, the connection between oak trees and deer takes the form of the sacred bond between the Tree of Life (the oak) and the noble deer, representing the eternal cycle of nature, strength, and renewal.
