Here is the third of the set of full page illustrations painted for a Middle Grade fantasy book titled The Sorcerer's Dog. It' an unusual story with many themes that are not very often present in books addressed to the young readers, including depression in young people.
The nightmarish creature gets sent by a mischievous sorcerer to interrogate the main character, the boy, and to reveal the secret he keeps. As the centipede's segmented body surrounds the boy's bed - now hung in the midst of a desolate rocky landscape - the monster forces confession with a terror.
All illustrations are painted on 16 in x 12 in paper with watercolours, gouache and rendered with coloured pencil.
